Why Oh Why I'm Asking!

This great song by Fischy music set the scene for Megamix last night at St John's church in Hamilton.

75 children and young people, from P4 to S1, filled the hall with their smiles, laughter, quietness, loudness, singing and questions.

With the older group the young people took turns in the hot seat to answer the questions of their peers. Questions like - what is heaven like? Does God answer prayer? Who started Megamix? How do planets stay in space? Why is the earth so big? There were some beautiful answers - "heaven is full of chocolate rivers", "it's sort of marshmallowy". "I think God tries his best to answer our prayers."

The big question of the night was "Why can't we see God?". In groups we explored this question together, by creating a drama from different stories about Jesus, making balloon sculptures, taking a challenging "amazing" world quiz, and playing some games together. In Jesus, each other, God's creation, and the Holy Spirit (the breath of God) we discovered that we can "see" God.

The next Megamix won't last just for a Saturday evening but for a whole weekend in May - it's going to be fun!
